It’s OK to be basic.
Do you overcomplicate things like what to wear? I did too but after years of styling women in my boutique, I’ve found the key and it’s to go back to the basics.
I love the white tee shirt for this very reason. It’s my favorite summer basic because it can be worn with literally anything in your closet and will look perfectly effortless. It winds up in my weekly rotation and always comes on vaca.
My personal favorite types are cotton slub, cotton modal or a linen blend. They have a really soft texture and a higher quality feel than your average cotton tee which can feel heavy and stiff.
Go for a relaxed fit but not too baggy or boxy. This summer the crop tees are still in (they make crop that doesn’t make you feel like you grabbed it from the juniors section!). And if you’re feeling the 90’s fashion trend then you’ve got to have a baby tee in the mix!
From crew neck to v-neck, scoop neck to boyfriend, cap sleeves to short sleeves, relaxed or fitted, organic to a blend, the options are endless!
Don’t get overwhelmed, just try a few and have an assortment on hand. You know how it goes when you wear white: Something inevitably ends up on it.
It’s the canvas for anything you want it to be. Wear it casual with cutoff denim or dress it up with a bright pair of high waisted shorts, pants, skinny jeans or a long skirt.
